GirlFriday: I Enjoyed Hydros, But …

GirlFridayCDA (Re: Hydros might have sunk ): You … can’t expect people to invest in an event that hasn’t happened in 40 years and lets be honest…there was a lot of flip flopping on whether it was even going to happen. First time events have to prove themselves. If the event truly brought in revenue for businesses, then I am sure they would be willing to support the races next year. I personally support the event if it brought in revenue for local businesses, but if it didn’t, then it can go away. On a side note…I did like the fact that when I went downtown for my usual Friday morning coffee there was plenty of parking and it was kind of a ghost town. Maybe next time they should be more specific about what parts of downtown not to go to during the event. I think a lot of locals avoided downtown like the plague because of the announcements of “no cars” and take a shuttle bus.

Question: What can organizers do to get the community to support hydroplane racing again?
