Suspect In Stabbing Still At Large

The victim of a stabbing is put onto a gurney Wednesday afternoon outside of Jimmy’s Down The Street Restaurant on Sherman Avenue. The stabbing occurred at the Budget Motel under unknown circumstances sometime around 1:40pm. The suspect has not currently been located. Coeur d’Alene Press story here. DFO: At several points, Coeur d’Alene council candidates discussed whether or not Coeur d’Alene was a “safe” town still. Most agreed that it was. But no one brought up this stabbing, which occurred about 9 blocks from the Coeur d’Alene Library early Wednesday afternoon. Coeur d’Alene certainly is less safe than it was 30 years ago, when I arrived from Lewiston. Have we simply re-defined “safe” to deal with today’s nationwide violence. Or are we still a relative safe community?
