Squirrel stew simmering
Do we have an overpopulation of squirrels? This year, for the first time, our apple tree was completely stripped of apples by squirrels. Every year, they have eaten all the plums on our tree and other plum trees in our area. This year, squirrels picked and ate every single one of our little green tomatoes.
Yesterday, when I was walking, I watched a squirrel carry a sunflower head across the street and over a fence. The sunflower was half as big as the squirrel. When a species overpopulates its environment and runs out of resources, it dies; kind of like another species I’m familiar with.
I have a couple recipes for squirrel stew. Maybe I should try them out.
