Steve Adams: Throw Out ‘Power Elite’

Campaign financial disclosure reports are commonly referred to as “sunshine reports.” The reason for this is to shed light on who is supporting the various candidates running for political office. The most recent sunshine reports for certain candidates in the city of Coeur d’Alene’s mayoral and council races read like the who’s who of the downtown power elite and good ole’ boys club, all of whom have ardently supported the Sandi Bloem administration. These supporters include, but are not limited to: Susan and Charles Nipp, Steve and Judy Meyer, Denny Davis, Jack Riggs, John Beutler, Joe Morris and Sandy Patano. Most of these names appear, amongst several other influential names, on each of these three candidates sunshine reports: Steve Widmyer , Kiki Miller and Amy Evans. Both Widmyer and Miller have belonged to the club for a long time, with Evans the latest wannabe. The old saying “birds of a feather flock together,” I believe proves true in this case/ Councilman Steve Adams , Coeur d’Alene. More here.

Question: Where have I heard the term “downtown power elite” before?
