Nation opposes Syria attack
OK, young people, listen up, and you oldsters of the same persuasion, too. Your president is about to drag you into another armed conflict. You are going to pay with your lives and your treasure. Remember: Old men make war, young people die in those wars and all Americans pay for those wars.
According to Reuters, 60 percent of Americans desire to stay out of the conflict even if it is established that chemical weapons were used on citizens in Syria. Only 9 percent are for intervening, and I suspect that the other 31 percent are not paying attention.
President Lincoln said in the Gettysburg Address that our government is “of the people, by the people and for the people,” but just as with the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), your president pays absolutely no attention to the people.
If we go into Syria, mark my words: It will eventually lead to “boots on the ground.” How many of our sons and daughters will die for little more that satisfying the egos of a few old men? Write letters, send emails and make phone calls to your senators and representatives to stop, yet again, another Middle East fiasco.
