Take back downtown
Right on, Doug Clark! Spokane needs to clean up its streets if it wants to be a center for conventions, conferences, etc. It doesn’t take long for a reputation to tank if streets are not safe and are not welcoming. Consequences are the only thing that will clear the streets of people who are harassing, begging and generally taking over.
Yes, there are sad stories, but there are also many who are aimless and not willing to work, so they “hang out” with like-minded people who believe it’s their right to clutter up streets and discourage downtown commerce.
Spokane needs to take back downtown.
