Debt has risen under Obama

Joe Speranzi (Sept. 21) listed many things he feels are accomplishments by President Barack Obama, and they are all (except killing bin Laden) up for debate. But one thing he mentioned is totally erroneous: crediting the president with reducing the debt.

Speranzi is completely wrong, as it is a fact, according to CBS News and the Washington Post, that Obama has added $6 trillion to the debt; the largest increase ever by any president. It was $10.6 trillion when he took office and it is now $16,687,289.

George W. Bush added $4.9 trillion in eight years and that was too much. I’m guessing Speranzi felt that way at the time.
