Slide could’ve been stopped
Having reviewed forest practice applications for various agencies in the past, I would have caught the potential for a mudslide in the devastated Oso area.
This is a failure on the part of many agencies and individuals that did not report what they saw on their review. This is the same type of failure – on a far less destructive nature – that happened in Bonners Ferry in 1999. As I said then, it didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out as I passed the area by vehicle and shook my head at the forest harvest allowed there as well.
