Fish Lake upgrades key

I am pleased the proposed $45 million park levy ($28 per year per $200,000 property) includes plans to enhance Fish Lake County Park, Fish Lake Trail and other neighborhood parks around the county. It would be foolhardy to build new facilities without maintaining and improving the properties the county already owns.

Frankly, it is an absolute shame that the properties surrounding Fish Lake are condemned, dilapidated and downright dangerous to the public. This waterfront park should be a jewel in the park department’s crown. Instead, it is practically an embarrassment.

It seems a steep price to pay, but we hope county officials will do the right thing and clean up existing parks.
