Congress does nothing

In an amazing display of arrogance and hubris, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly to pass the compromise bill funding Veterans Administration services just prior to voting to bring suit against the president for failing to do his job.

If that isn’t a case of politics trumping the people’s needs, I don’t know what is!

For almost four years, the House has failed to pass anything of substance for the good of the American people: no jobs bill, no infrastructure bills, no immigration reform and no tax reform. Nothing.

They have wasted millions of dollars of taxpayer money endlessly trying to overturn or modify the Affordable Care Act, 54 times at last count, endless hearings on the tragedy in Benghazi and hearings on paranoid fantasies about the Internal Revenue Service.

In true duplicitous fashion, both of Idaho’s representatives and all of Washington’s GOP House members voted “yea” on both bills simply because it was the politically expedient thing to do on the veterans funding bill, and showed their base just how strong they were in their stand against this president.

I hope that voters are paying attention to this pointless political theater and throw the bums out come November.
