7YO ‘Critical’ After Shooting

A 7-year-old is in critical condition after he was shot in the head with a small-caliber handgun that he and another juvenile were playing with Saturday morning. The youngsters were playing with the gun when it discharged at 7 a.m. Saturday at the Midtown Mobile Park in the 9400 block of Government Way, Hayden, according to a Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department news release. The juveniles were unsupervised at the time. The wounded child was taken to Kootenai Health initially and then transferred to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. Deputies are continuing the investigation/ Lt. Stu Miller , KCSO.
