ACA is a blessing
The Aug. 24 guest opinion by Dave Wilson was, in my opinion, right on the mark. It is unfortunate that we currently have a U.S. House of Representatives that falls in the 0-20 yard line. Voting over 40 times to kill the Affordable Care Act is, in my mind, a waste of time and taxpayers’ money.
I might also add that because of recommendations by ACA, my insurance company sent a home health nurse to my house to do a wellness check. A subsequent recommendation had me seeing a surgeon who removed a blockage in the carotid artery in my neck. The surgeon told me that had I not had the surgery when I did, I would have had a major stroke or possibly death within a week.
My dad lived to 93 and my mom lived to 103. At 73 myself, the surgery I had was a shock and a blessing. I believe the ACA enabled me to continue appreciating what was done for me and, no doubt, thousands of others.
