No excuse for prosecutor

I was disgusted to read about former Spokane County deputy prosecutor Marriya Wright’s relationship with Matthew Baumrucker. This is one of the most serious errors in judgment by a prosecutor that I am aware of during my 24 years as a prosecutor. Her actions are an embarrassment to the legal profession in general and prosecutors in particular, and put herself, the public and law enforcement in danger.

I do not believe for a second she was trying to reform Baumrucker or convert him to her church. I have brought people into my church without having to pose in a swimsuit, or send thousands of texts, so I do not understand why she felt she had to do so.

I hope that the state bar association will investigate this highly unprofessional matter.
