The raspy-voiced British rocker, Joe Cocker , has died of lung cancer. He was 70 years old. Cocker was a symbol of the rock era of the 60s and 70s. Perhaps his greatest work was that of the Beatles’ song “With a Little Help from my Friends;” he sang the tune with a soulful interpretation at Woodstock in 1969.

Cocker released more than 20 albums, the most recent in 2012, titled “Fire It Up.”

Joe Cocker is survived by his wife, Pam; a brother, Viktor; and a stepdaughter, Zoey.
