Marc: Protestors Were Right

Marc Stewart (RE: Protestors were wrong — Digger ): I have to disagree with Digger. Protesting/civil disobedience can be a powerful agent of change. The Civil Rights movement would not have been success in the 1960s if people had not stood up for what they believe. The Vietnam War would have lasted longer if people had not taken to the streets. Digger uses the same arguments that people used against the protestors during those turbulent times — work with the government, play nice, don’t raise your voice. Play by the rules. You’ll get your chance — eventually. Do we think Blacks who had their civil rights stolen were going to accept that? Do we think people against the Vietnam War wanted to wait and watch more men die.? No. There is a time stand up for you believe. I respect the protesters for doing what they think is right. Will it be successful? History will be the judge of that.

Question: Do you think the Idaho Legislature will give the “Add the Words” legislation a hearing this year, now that the protest has led to wide-spread attention to it?
