Idaho Lawsuit Tops ‘Ridiculous’ List

A lawsuit by a group of Idaho inmates blaming beer brewers for their lives of crime was the top vote-getter in a national survey of the top 10 most ridiculous lawsuits of 2013. The Washington, D.C.-based U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform, a projected created by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 1998, was founded to address the rate of litigation in the United States. The group annually releases its top ten list of most ridiculous lawsuits. This year, Idaho was at the top with a suit from inmates that blamed a life of crime on beer companies. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court in late 2012, targeted a handful of major beer and wine companies.
