Clay Larkin’s recently-purchased pontoon boat will be outfitted well. Post Falls’ popular mayor for the past 13 years now plans to spend more time on a passion that has been docked during his service: fishing. And some of the 250 people who packed into the Post Falls Senior Center on Thursday night for Larkin’s retirement party made sure he’ll be well-prepared to enjoy that pastime with fishing equipment. “The gifts are wonderful, but what’s really special is having all you here tonight,” Larkin said, fighting back tears. “My friends, thank you.” With his wife, Deanna, by his side, the 77-year-old Larkin drew multiple standing ovations and praise from Post Falls youth. Larkin was also praised by Sen. Mike Crapo to President Barack Obama on the U.S. Senate floor/ Brian Walker , Coeur d’Alene Press. More here.
