Front Avenue opens
This just in from Public Information Consultant Keith Erickson:
Motorists can now drive uninterrupted between Second and Seventh streets in downtown Coeur d’Alene with the recent opening of Front Avenue adjacent to the $20 million McEuen Park makeover. “Progress continues on this historic project and I’m pleased the street is now open to traffic,” said Coeur d’Alene Mayor Steve Widmyer.
The redesigned Front Avenue includes diagonal parking spots; however, parking along the one-block stretch between Fifth and Sixth streets will not be available until the sidewalk is poured on the north side of the street in early February, said engineer Phil Boyd. The McEuen Park parking structure is also partially open and access from the sub-grade facility to Front Avenue above is expected to improve soon with the opening of stairways leading from the subgrade parking area to Front Avenue.
Meanwhile, officials are anticipating a Memorial Day weekend opening of the lakeside park. Memorial Day is May 26.
Has anyone checked out the newly opened Front Avenue?
