HBO Blogos: ‘Apple Cider’ Hits Area

Coeur d’Alene city street crews were out in full force starting early this morning, clearing roads as the area’s first major snowstorm blanketed the region under several inches of snow. Street superintendent Tim Martin said 19 operators maneuvering 5 plows, 4 graders, and 4 loaders set out to clear the city’s 500-plus miles of streets starting at about 5 a.m. “We’ll be working around the clock until we covered the entire city,” Martin said. He expects crews to finish the citywide plow by noon Thursday. Students at Canfield Middle School were given the honors of naming city storms this season. They chose “Apple Cider” as the name for the first major weather event. (Coeur d’Alene Today photo)
