KCSD’s Frozen Dozen Helps Seniors

I asked Lt. Stu Miller re: that program in which KCSD provides inmate labor to clear sidewalks of snow for Seasoned Citizens . Here’s his response: “The list we get is from the Lake City Senior Center.  The center determines eligibility based on income (i.e. if they have the income to hire someone to o it they wouldn’t qualify).  So it is really done for those seniors in need. Currently it’s a hit a miss program since our numbers in the Labor Program fluctuate and the need can sometimes be spontaneous  — where the Labor Program already has been assigned tasks.”

Marc Stewart has suggested some names for the program:

  • Jailhouse shovelers.
  • The great snow escape.
  • The shovelclank redemption.
  • Get out of snow free.
  • The gang that couldn’t shovel straight.

JohnA offers:

  • Ben Wolfinger and the Snowdance Kids
  • The Snowy Bottom Boys
  • Cool Hand Flukes
  • The Frozen Dozen
  • The Cold in the Fall Gang

Question: Do you have any suggestions?
