The reconstruction of McEuen Park lasted nearly two years and involved the excavation of nearly 22 acres of soil for the park and parking structure. After all that, during the final earthmoving event this week, crews uncovered a safe that had likely been buried for several decades. The safe was discovered during excavation efforts to make room for the next piece of public art at the southeast corner of Front Avenue and Second Street. It was buried about 5 feet below the street surface/ Keith Erickson , Coeur d’Alene Today. More here.
