LeFavour — $70, 70 Hours Of Service

Judge Michael Oths has imposed a $70 fine, 70 hours of community service and court costs on former state Sen. Nicole LeFavour, D-Boise, for two misdemeanor counts of trespassing at the Idaho state Capitol during this year’s legislative session in favor of protecting gays from discrimination in Idaho. That matches a plea agreement reached in April. “What I appreciate about the approach you all took is the American tradition of civil disobedience is we all disobey and then we take our consequences,” the judge said. “We understand there’s a price tag involved in it, rather than as we may do in other parts of the world, blowing things up or that kind of tactics. .. I think the great tradition is you put your name on the line, and it’s not easy to do that, I understand that. But you accept the consequences for that, and I think you’ve done both.” The judge added, “I think people have been respectful in their approach, and I want to make that comment”/ Betsy Russell , Eye on Boise.
