Update: ISP names man killed in officer-involved shooting
Update: Idaho State Police today released the name of a man who was shot by law enforcement shortly after 9 p.m. Friday night in Coeur d’Alene.
Thomas White, 28, of Coeur d’Alene, was fatally shot in a neighbor’s backyard after an alleged stand-off with Coeur d’Alene Police, according to the ISP, which is investigating the actions of three officers involved in the incident. More here.
The shooting occurred after Coeur d’Alene Police Department officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance call on Dragon Fly Drive in Coeur d’Alene.
Friday was graduation day for Coeur d’Alene High School, so when neighbors heard a string of rapid-fire popping sounds in their quiet neighborhood they assumed it was celebratory fireworks.
Shortly after 9 p.m. Friday, Coeur d’Alene police fatally shot a man in his 20s in his neighbor’s backyard in the 400 block of Dragonfly Drive. Neighbors said police had been called because the man, who was believed to be drunk, had gotten into a loud argument with a family member.
“It was a horrible evening. You could just hear the family wailing,” neighbor Jennifer Robinett said of the shooting’s aftermath. More here. Nina Culver, SR
