Unjustifiable wars?
This is a difficult letter for me to write. I do not want to disrespect the fallen soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice, but since World War II how many wars were justifiable?
Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan – what positive result did they accomplish? Were they all mistakes, or worth the cost?
The lives of so many young men and women. The billions of dollars spent. In this new century, are there better ways other than war to settle disputes? These are questions that must be asked.
I believe we should do everything possible to avoid military conflict. War should always be the very last resort. We, as a human race, must find the answers.
Many will say I’m too idealistic. I hope not.
