Soccer Or Baseball?

Okie Doke, my son-in-law from Oklahoma City, is a big fan of the Portland Timbers. When we left Portland Saturday morning to return from our vacay, he was watching some obscure game from the first round of the World Cup. I’ve tried watching a Timbers game on TV with him once, but, frankly, considered the trip to get a pizza halfway through the second half to be more interesting. We missed the only goal of the game. Why am I telling you this? Okie Doke and other under 30s seem more interested in soccer than Major League Baseball. I’m from a generation of males who ate, slept and drank baseball. I followed the exploits of the San Francisco Giants of the 1960s religiously. I’m still a big fan of the Giants. Yeah, yeah, I know baseball is as boring to some as I consider soccer. But I realize soccer is on the ascendancy in this country, while baseball faces a decline as Okie Doke’s generation ages. Here’s the question …
