Why not cloth diapers?
I read the article about the Mission Community Outreach Center and the shortage of diapers for the low-income population.
I was at first thinking that would be a good place to donate some money since my wife and I like to support causes such as this. After a brief conversation, we started wondering why cloth diapers weren’t encouraged. I thought that, of course, laundry would be an issue because of cost. I was reminded that cloth diapers can be washed by hand.
Wouldn’t this be a good exercise in teaching people to solve problems like this in a way that we all did in the past? They could still use disposables when away from the house. We, like many people, used cloth diapers by choice for cost reasons and to reduce waste. I suppose this idea would seem out of date since society is so used to instant convenience and into the garbage.
Am I missing something?
