60YO CdA Man Dies In Bridge Wreck
A 60-year-old Coeur d’Alene man was killed this morning in a head-on collision on the Highway 95 bridge over the Spokane River, on the
eastern edge of Coeur d’Alene. According to Idaho State Police reports, Stephen L. Pedersen was northbound in his 1997 Jeep Wrangler at about 11:20 a.m. when he crossed the center line and hit a southbound Ford F25 pickup driven by Leonard G. Hammrich, 74, of Hayden Lake. Pedersen died at the scene. Hammrich was taken to Kootenai Health with a head injury. Hammrich’s vehicle also hit a northbound GMC pickup driven by Adam D. Jacobson, 35, of Coeur d’Alene. Jacobson was not injured. The crash closed the busy highway for about 3 1/2 hours. The ISP reopened the highway at 3:01 p.m. The accident remains under investigation.
