Tondee To Seek Re-election

Kootenai County Commissioner Todd Tondee announced Thursday that he will run in the May 20 primary election to retain his seat. Tondee, 49, confirmed that he was considering running for county clerk, but said he still has some unfinished business as county commissioner. “The county needs leadership that will listen to the people and give them the respect they deserve,” Tondee said. “I think I have done that and I want to continue doing that.” Tondee, a Republican, started his political career as a Post Falls city councilman. He served in the position for three years before challenging and defeating former County Commissioner Gus Johnson in 2006. Factoid: In a five-way GOPrimary race for commissioner in May 2012, Tondee received 4,548 votes to win, Marc Eberlein received 4,262 votes, and Tim Herzog 1,773 votes. All three have filed for this race this year.
