Appreciation for Kershner
Thank you for Jim Kershner’s “Wisdom of aging well” (March 3). He captured Daniel Klein’s “Travels with Epicurus” wonderfully and reminded us – young and old – of the value of appreciation of things just as they are here and now.
Americans are an aspirational lot and the expectations, drives and struggles that consume us are fine if they truly come from the heart. The old can look back on those earlier chapters in life and understand them for the excitement and joy they brought and, with great emotional liberation, be grateful for the calm and peace and acceptance that are theirs today.
