Motivated by the vulture

I’ve participated in Bloomsday for the last three years, and for whatever reason I have no memory of the vulture there. This could be because I was too tired, or that it didn’t stand out too much with all of the other crazy costumes I had seen at those times. In any case, I certainly look forward to seeing him this year, and hopefully for many years to come.

Learning that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer is certainly disappointing, but it is uplifting to hear that he is going to continue to display the vulture costume at Bloomsday for as long as he can. I’m always excited to see the costumes and they definitely help to keep spirits up during the long trek.

He is exactly the kind of person that I love to see every year, and I sincerely believe that we need more people like him.
