CPD Awards Happy Meals For Helmets

CPD officer Shane Avriett gives a Happy Meal certificate to a child who is wearing a bicycle helmet in 900 block of Harrison.

From the Coeur d’Alene Police Department Facebook wall: “Bicycles season is here and bike safety practices will establish a lifetime of good habits for youth. The Coeur d’Alene Police Department is pleased to partner with Safe Kids of Kootenai County and Kootenai Health to promote safe bicycle riding habits. Our officers have been provided coupons for a free McDonalds Happy Meal to distribute to children found wearing a helmet while riding their bicycle, skateboard or scooter. Wear your helmets kids and you just might be seen by your local friendly police officer.

DFO: Hey, I wear my helmet whenever I ride my bike. This is blatant ageism. Codgers ♥ McDonalds gift certificates, too. Thoughts?
