McMorris Rodgers wises up

Add Spokesman-Review on Google

I can’t believe I am writing a letter of support for Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who I normally never support. But her recent critics regarding Obamacare are absolutely outlandish.

Doug Belcher (May 3) accused her of capitulating on the Affordable Care Act by being unwilling or unable to support its repeal. Other local critics have said as much.

These people can’t read. All McMorris Rodgers said of the ACA was, “I think it’s here to stay,” meaning I don’t think we can get the Congress to repeal it. She didn’t say she wanted it to stay, because she doesn’t.

With this, says Belcher, she is failing in her duty to defend the Constitution and our way of life.

Such absurd exaggeration! It is also false to say, as Belcher did, that only a minority regards Obamacare as settled law.

McMorris Rodgers has proven she is smarter than many of her constituents.
