HD4A: Malek vs. Schindelbeck

Following are Coeur d’Alene Press candidate profiles on the House District 4A race:

• Toby Schindelbeck: Schindelbeck, 36, went to community college for a year and a half before starting a small business at the age of 20. He has been in business ever since. He has lived in Coeur d’Alene for one year, and ran unsuccessfully for city council in his former hometown of Chico, California in 2012. Schindelbeck has been married for 14 years, and was heavily involved in church activities as well as the Humane Society in Chico. Profile here.
• Luke Malek: The 32-year-old attorney got his law degree from the University of Idaho, and has been involved in politics since he was in high school. Malek, who is recently married, worked for Senators Mike Crapo, Jim Risch and Larry Craig. He also worked for the Post Falls Urban Renewal District. He has lived in Coeur d’Alene since he was 8 years old. Malek has been involved with Kootenai County Young Professionals, Coeur d’Alene Rotary, 4-H, CASA and Lake City Center. Profile here.
