We deserve Beggs

Ballots have arrived, and we all have the fortunate opportunity to choose a leader who will bring legitimacy, integrity and reform to the Spokane County Prosecutor’s office. Breean Beggs is that leader.

He has been characterized as an outsider, as if this is a negative. But don’t we need someone who isn’t entrenched in the current system? Don’t we want someone who has the courage and conviction to make the changes needed, someone who understands the current system is broken, that it needs more than, as his opponent stated it, a few tweaks? Don’t we need someone with the courage and absolute belief that change and reform must happen?

If you don’t believe it, you won’t see it. If you don’t believe we need reform, you can’t empower others to follow your lead. Frankly, as citizens and taxpayers, can we afford to spend 70 percent of our tax dollars on a justice system that isn’t working?

Beggs brings a wealth of knowledge from both the private sector and his outstanding public advocacy. He is honest, fair and decisive. He will bring smart justice reform. Don’t we deserve that?
