MikeK: Patrick Brought Us Together

MikeK: “I thought Patrick’s funeral was more than eclectic, though it certainly was that. To me it was uplifting in the sense that you realized how many corners of the community had genuine affection for and a genuine stake in the life of Patrick Jacobs. I saw serious Christians there and serious agnostics there and serious people who feel genuinely harmed by organized religion there and a serious and sincere Pagan there (who is more thought-provoking than most people), and so many of us who just wanted to show our respects there. And mostly in attendance there were a lot of people whose religion or spiritual journey I have no clue about. But one thing in particular made me very happy - every single one of these people raised their hand along with the sincere and welcoming Lutheran clergy to give a blessing to Patrick’s remains and wish him peace and love on his journey to the next place. So here’s a toast to you, OrangeTV — your legacy is better than most. You had very many people from all across the spectrum joined in one place together with a unified solemn wish - peace for you, celebration of your life, and peace for the rest of us who remain. And isn’t that what this brief turn on the globe is supposed to be all about? Godspeed, Patrick.”
