Ybarra: ‘I’m feeling pretty positive’
Sherri Ybarra, the Republican candidate for state schools superintendent, is trailing Democrat Jana Jones in a close race right now, but it’s early. “I’m feeling good,” Ybarra said at the Idaho GOP state election night party, where she was joined by her family, including son Matt, center. “I’m feeling pretty positive right now.” Asked if she’d change anything about her gaffe-ridden campaign, Ybarra said she has no regrets. “I’m just excited that I was able to meet a lot of folks,” she said. “I’m hearing lots of positive comments from my supporters. I’m pretty excited to be here – this is exciting.”
Meanwhile, Jones, at the Democratic Party state election night party, said, “I think we just need to wait. I’m excited to see where it is right now.” She said, “We just worked very hard and stayed very focused and very positive about what we were doing and what we wanted to achieve. And it’s really gone well for us. … People were ready for a change, they want to see something different in education in Idaho, so they were very receptive, gave us great feedback. It was a great campaign.”
