Why Do We Talk About Gas So Much?

OtisG Experience (RE: Quotable Quote ): Here’s the thing: My car holds 12 gallons of gas, which I fill a couple times a month. At $3.00 a gallon, it’s $72 a month. At $4.00 a gallon, it’s $96 a month. We’re talking a fluctuation of around $25. How much did you spend last time you ate out? How much do you spend at the movies? How much do you spend on alcohol and/or cigarettes? What’s your cellphone payment? And let’s not even get into your Starbuck’s bill. For the life of me, I can’t comprehend why the price of gas is such a conversation piece. Pay what it is (like it’s a choice), or use less (which is a choice). Are oil companies greedy? Absolutely. Is anyone going to do anything about it? No. Does the price really have anything to do with who the current President is? Not really. Does the state of the union revolve around the price of gas? No. Do you need some variety in your life so you can talk about something other than gas prices? YES.
