Support native name

Consistent with the meaning of our city’s name Spokane (Spokan in Salish) – “Children of the Sun” – the plaza should be named “The Gathering Place” and should appear in both English and Native American Salish languages. We are working hard to attract business and visitors to Spokane.

Likely, there will be many, including some current residents, who may not recognize either King Cole or John Moyer for their significant impact on our city’s near and distant past. However, everybody understands the significance of a gathering place.

Let’s express our community spirit face-to-face with one another, and in the words we choose to describe how we will always feel about this special area in our midst.
