Calm before the crash

I totally agree with Marilyn Allen (“Traffic calming a joke” – Nov. 17). It is a joke. I can see where it is supposed to prevent people from speeding, etc., but I still see accidents. You can hardly get around the roundabout without going up on the sidewalk.

That area of Montgomery Avenue and Madison Street is too small of an area to have one. They would have had better luck and fewer accidents if they had put in stop signs.

Down by Trinity Catholic School on Saturdays, you won’t be able to get around because the church people park anywhere and everywhere. You can’t get down the street, and with the roundabout there is really an accident waiting to happen.

Put stop signs in if you want to slow the traffic. Roundabouts are meant for larger areas and wider streets. What was the street engineer thinking?
