SF Debut Set For NI Play RE: Jail Stint

As a lifetime patron of theater, John Allred believes in supporting promising new productions. But this could hardly be called an actual production. This was a staged reading of a totally unknown provincial play in a grange hall in the boonies of North Idaho. Even Google couldn’t tell him how to find the place. Allred was wishing he was somewhere else as the reading got underway last May. But he had promised a friend to attend, so he reluctantly did — and was immediately blown away. “I wasn’t expecting much. But I was riveted from start to finish,” said the 59-year-old California playwright, director and set designer. Allred said the content of the poignant two-act musical not only carried the performance but took him on an emotional roller coaster ride. “The thing that really struck me is there was a lot of laughter, but before the play was over I was tearing up,” he said. Allred was not only captivated by “The Clink,” but decided he wanted a piece of it. A big piece/ Ric Clarke , Coeur d’Alene Press. More here.

Question: Have you heard of ‘The Clink’?
