TWolf22: School Mid-Range Shrinking

TWolf22 (RE: Idaho AP performance improves ): Like so many things,, the income gap for example, the same is happening in education. The middle is slowly disappearing. The students who, along with their parents, value education, are probably those who perform well on the tests. The students, along with their parents, who don’t value education, are sinking deeper into the depths. Unfortunately, more are sinking than are rising. The number of involved and caring parents is shrinking, while the numbers of parents without the parenting skills to raise their children stressing the importance of education continues to more rapidly rise.

Question: What do you think of TWolf22’s theory that the mid-range student is disappearing, too? And/or: How valuable are parental and family support for a child doing well in school?
