Deputy Prosecutor Faces Charges

The Washington Attorney General’s office has charged a former Spokane County deputy prosecutor with rendering criminal assistance. Marriya Wright is facing the charge stemming from an incident where she allegedly helped Michael Baumrucker evade police on March 3. Baumrucker, who was wanted for suspicion of assault, contacted Wright from an apartment he was hiding in. She advised him on what to do and later picked him up to help avoid being taken into custody. Wright resigned her position in the prosecutor’s office last month in the wake of an investigation into her relationship with Baumrucker, which included more than a thousand text messages exchanged between the two in the weeks prior to Wright helping Baumrucker evade police and Baumrucker having a picture of Wright in a bikini in his jail cell/KXLY. Question: Am I the only one have trouble getting my mind around this relationship?
