Debate: Stewart-Shriner Analysis
Randy Myers breaks down
Coeur d’Alene Press video debate
between Republican Dave Stewart and Democrat Jerry Shriner:
“Selle was
almost as much debater as moderator. Stewart says Kootenai Co. has in excess of 50 million in the bank ? Well jail expansion problem solved. This is brand new information. Shriner, pictured, will push for Medicaid expansion. Stewart dodges this saying he needs ‘facts’ laid out. Uhh what facts besides we pay taxes and are able to re-coup some that are needed ? Stewart makes a good point saying that disrespect has been headed from the top down from the Commisioners. Shriner seems to understand the ULUC better than Stewart (hard to tell though). Selle asks for disclosure about “dirty laundry.” None disclosed. Shriner nails Stewart as “far right.” Stewart gets defensive about NWPOA.
More below.
Question: Why does there appear to be little interest in the races for Kootenai County commission offices?
It would be unfair to choose a winner as there were time discrepancies. Both candidates were polite and well spoken.
based on his platform and his record including his background in corrections and menatl health and administration Shriner seems the better fit to me. He was totally honest about his reasons for running, “I wasn’t going to let Dave just have it.”
