Man’s Fib Led To Submerged Car

A 21YO Coeur d’Alene man was cited for leaving the scene of an accident and making a false report to a police officer after his vehicle was located under 5 feet of water in Lake Coeur d’Alene this morning. Kyle Dubiel had told police that three men had kidnapped him at gunpoint early this morning — and then driven his vehicle into the lake. The car was found about 100 feet from shore. Coeur d’Alene police responded to the scene at 8:29 this morning. Officers Pleger and Wessel entered the water to check for possible victims. No one was found inside. Dubiel made his claim about kidnapping to the 911 dispatch when he called this morning to report the submerged vehicle.
