We all need hope

I am very happy for Carla Amparan (“Why the cancer fuss” – Oct. 12) that she won her battle with cancer, and I would applaud her any day. She may not have been so lucky with her battle with cancer if someone before her had not spoken up and helped to raise awareness of cancer to help improve medical treatment for people. If we just sit back and don’t help our fellow man, this would be a sad world.

She had a choice not to be proud of her victory. Just as others have the right to be proud and shout it from the highest rooftop if they choose.

I want to say thank you to every person who is proud to be a winner and puts themselves out there to help give hope to the rest of their community. Everyone needs someone in their corner.

There is no one who has not been affected by cancer or some other debilitating disease in their circle of family and friends.

Why do people care if someone won a battle against cancer or any other disease? Because it gives us all hope.
