Sis: Patrick Taught Us 1 More Lesson
Sisyphus
(RE:
The unexpected death of local restaurant reviewer/online personality Patrick Jacobs
): I want to address his family, especially his parents. I only knew Patrick online through this community of bloggers and commenters here at Huckleberries Online (HBO), one of the best places in Idaho to discuss politics. Orange TV (OTV), wasn’t really a
political animal, but wrote spectacular pieces on food, art, and culture, a real asset to the community. He and I didn’t always agree but he earned my respect for writing cogent, thoughtful comments from his heart and sharing common experiences to people of different backgrounds, thereby making whatever he wrote persuasive to many. I learned from him. His passing is tragic because of the promise of his talent ending before coming to perch upon the promontory it was sure to achieve. And through this passing, he had one more lesson to teach me. While we are removed from human contact through the digital medium, it doesn’t mean that through this medium we can’t touch each other’s humanity like he touched mine in a real and emotional way. I feel the loss which must pale horribly to yours. Thanks for blessing us with his presence. You should be proud.
