Kevin: Give Credit Where Credit Due

On his Facebook wall, Kevin Richert of IdahoED NEWS posts: “I usually refrain from calling out a former employer on social media. However, I note with considerable irony that the Statesman picked up Clark Corbin ‘s story from last night — a story about identical wording that appeared on two rival candidates’ websites — and posted it under a “Statesman Staff” byline. The body of the text does attribute the reporting to Idaho Education News, as it should. (The reporting was entirely Clark’s; this was an enterprise story, and he had it first.) But the byline is, at best, misleading. We provide our material to other media free of charge, and ask only for proper credit. We can’t come down in price, so we have to defend our original work.”
