Full-time operative

David Hamer’s Aug. 24 letter reflects the sad state of affairs of our political culture.

Sarah Palin is an embarrassing sideshow looking for a stage, and Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers is not the virtuous country girl representative that Hamer claims. McMorris Rodgers is a part-time representative of the 5th Congressional District and a full-time operative of her party’s leadership. Her full-time constituency has little or no residency, loyalty or ownership in the 5th District.

Their promotion of smaller government is a camouflage to obstruct government and to make it less efficient and less beneficial, except for them. They profess capitalism and a free economy while socializing risk, loss and liability for the privatization of profit to the well-connected, and not for the common good or the common enterprise.

At home, she aggrandizes herself with a token veteran while thousands more remain wounded and forgotten.

Like other politicians on both sides of the aisle, McMorris Rodgers is simply a political predator of opportunity. We are the prey, and we give her the opportunity.
