What’s with age question?
Although I was very inspired by your “Booming Business” article (Sept. 1) on award-winning sound composer Bill Byrne, it seemed ridiculous and insulting to ask him, as you did, “You are 53, so how long can you do this?”
Really? What does his age matter? The question implies that this somehow outweighs Byrne’s creativity, skill, passion and obvious success. Would he be less of a composer at 63 or 73? Would your reporter consider himself washed up when he turns 53? Would anyone?
It’s disgusting to see even modest age viewed as a limitation to professional skill and creativity. Please keep such assumptions out of The Spokesman-Review.
