Need new solutions
Addressing and solving the problem of ISIS is crucial to U.S. democracy, to stability in our world. News that the U.S. wants once again to lead with a military solution is both deeply flawed and deeply disturbing. If that’s our best effort after over 10 years of war in the region, I believe we fail before starting.
The killings of two U.S. journalists and a British aid worker are sending us over the cliff into the cycle of trying the same thing over and over. “Insanity is trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results” has been proven true, over and over. After over a decade of war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and three years of the turmoil and death in Syria, we are called to new solutions.
Opening Pandora’s box yet again will again bring unintended consequences. Leading with more humanitarian aid, cutting off funding sources for ISIS, cutting off oil resources, cutting off financial and supply resources, creating multiple options for diplomacy such as the Anwar Awakening in Fallujah are just a few of possible options.
U.S. world leadership and reputation is at stake. Let’s contact our elected officials to create true solutions.
